The pioneering Supermarket of the Future is interactive, innovative and social, with over 1,500 products from 5 chains.
Displayed over a 2,500 square-metre total area within the EXPO 2015 Future Food District Theme Area, the project was conceived by Carlo Ratti, Director of the Senseable City Lab at MIT, Boston, and developed together with Coop.
Cefla in close collaboration with INRES, have created the Supermarket innovative systems and furnishings; Cefla Plant Solutions took care of the electric and air-conditioning systems throughout the “Supermarket of the Future”, part of the Future Food District.
A taste of the more interesting Cefla creations: shelf illumination that makes use of Cefla Digital Shelf System; grocery display bins made of Plexiglas containing the raw products; custom furnishings, namely tilt-top tables, that are lower than the standard shelving units, to recreate the feeling of a street marketplace.
